Césure

Decree no. 2018-372 of May 18, 2018, on the temporary suspension of studies in public establishments providing initial higher education training, has clarified the conditions governing the use and benefit of the so-called "césure" period.

This period lasts a maximum of one academic year. The university course is then temporarily suspended, with the aim of gaining personal experience, either independently or within a host organization in France or abroad.

The conditions for taking advantage of this scheme are set out in the Charte relative au dispositif césure.

The student must first be enrolled in a course.

He then sends the application and the agreement to the Registrar's Office of the Faculty of Law and Political Science.The deadline for submitting the application and the documents to be provided is :

  • September 1, 2023, for a gap year taking place abroad and covering the first semester or the full academic year
  • September 15, 2023, for a gap year taking place in France and covering the first semester or the full academic year
  • December 15, 2023, for a break covering the second semester

This request must be accompanied by :

► A cover letter describing how the gap period will be carried out and its objectives, demonstrating the coherence of the student's project.

► A certificate from the host organization willing to commit to the period, if applicable

► Photocopy of "scol'pass

The student's request must then be accepted by the President of the University of Montpellier.
