Erin is a single mother of three. Hired—already taking a chance—at a law firm, she stumbles upon an old case file and decides, once again on her own, to build a case for a class-action lawsuit on behalf of all the victims of a massive environmental disaster.
This film is, of course, the story of an American myth: the idea that sheer willpower can overcome any obstacle to succeed in society. But it is also an excellent description of the American class-action procedure. It serves as an excellent basis for discussing the differences with the “French-style class action.”
