A pharmacist rapes and kills a young woman near a lake. The victim’s lover is accused of the murder, and as luck would have it, the real killer is selected by lottery to serve as a juror in the criminal court.
In this 1962 film, which offers Bernard Blier one of his finest roles, Georges Lautner takes a disillusioned look at how the judicial system works, citizens’ involvement in the administration of justice, and the risk of miscarriages of justice.
