Fanny

Speaker: Maxime BRENAUT

True to Pagnol's play of the same name, the second part of the Marseille Trilogy, the film Fanny, directed by Marc Allégret, was released in 1932.
Marius, yielding to the irresistible call of the sea, left behind his father César and his fiancée Fanny, who was carrying his child. With no news from the man she loves, the young woman resolves to marry the brave Honoré Panisse to give her child a father. But one day, Marius returns... A masterpiece of French cinema, this film bears witness to a bygone era when "unwed mothers" and "bastards" were ostracised by society. However, the subject matter of the foundations of parentage, whether biological or intentional, is still relevant today.
