Film and Law Event

Erin is a single mother raising three children on her own. Hired by a law firm after taking a chance on herself, she stumbles upon an old case file and decides, once again on her own, to build a case for a class-action lawsuit on behalf of all the victims of a massive environmental disaster.
This film is, of course, the story of an American myth: the idea that sheer determination can take you anywhere in society. But it is also an excellent description of the American class action procedure. It also serves as an excellent basis for discussing the differences with the “French-style class action.”
