Partnerships with Foreign Universities

European Academy of Venice (EIUC – European Interuniversities Center)

The University of Montpellier, and specifically its Institute of European Human Rights Law (IDEDH), which is part of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, are partners of the European InterUniversities Center (EIUC – European Academy of Venice).

Professor Frédéric Sudre, Director ofIDEDH, is the “EMA National Director” for Montpellier, meaning he is the lead coordinator ofthis program fundedby the European Union.

Students selected by the European Academy of Venice to pursue a master’s degree in European and international human rights protection spend their first semester in Venice and their second semester at one of the 41 partner universities. Each year, the academy sends between two and three students to IDEDH, where they take courses and write their thesis under the supervision of an IDEDH faculty member.

ASSOCIATED INTERNATIONAL LABORATORY (LIA) – “CONTRACTS, SECURITY INTERESTS, AND INSOLVENCY OF CONSUMERS AND BUSINESSES”

As part of the strategic partnership established between the University of Montpellier and Laval University (Canada), an agreement formalizes the creation of an International Associated Laboratory (LIA-CSI) designed to foster collaboration between faculty members in the law schools of both institutions. Initiated by Professors Aurore Benadiba and Christophe Albiges, the agreement aims to establish research projects within a framework that facilitates the transfer of knowledge in contract law, security interests, insolvency proceedings, as well as related fields such as property law. These shared research themes build upon those already developed within the Private Law Laboratory (UR UM207) and the Chair in Prevention and Management of Business Difficulties at Labex Entreprendre.

Building on its international reach, this international partner laboratory will serve as a hub for knowledge creation and dissemination between the two institutions, centered around a shared scientific program. The goal of the partnership is to promote the exchange of expertise, the organization of scientific events, joint publications, the awarding of scholarships, and international student mobility as part of their academic programs (Master’s, PhD).
