Synopsis: Because adoption isn’t just about the parents’ journey—because the child remains the central focus that must always be kept in mind—*Pupille*, directed by Jeanne Herry, shines a spotlight on the adoptive parent, but above all on the adoptee.
Théo, born to an anonymous mother, finds himself caught up in the bureaucratic maze of the adoption process until he meets Alice, a single woman struggling to adopt.
*Pupille* is also an ode to this child, who needs guidance from birth through adoption—a child who must be loved and encouraged by child welfare services, his foster family, and his permanent family alike.
