Perspectives of Young People in France and Germany

Both countries—and young people in particular—face major societal, climate, and geopolitical challenges.
The Franco-German Youth Office (OFAJ) commissioned Kantar Public to conduct a representative survey in which a total of 1,527 young people in Germany and 1,551 young people in France, aged 16 to 25, were asked how they viewed the future.
About two-thirds of young people in France and Germany are concerned about their future. They are particularly dissatisfied with their opportunities for participation and consider climate change to be the greatest challenge. Although young people in both countries take a fairly critical view of the future, they remain optimistic about Franco-German cooperation and European solidarity.
